3 Non-Extreme Ways to Reduce Your Screen Time

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome back to Easlo's newsletter. Every week, I curate actionable tips to help supercharge your productivity and growth.

Today's Focus: 3 Non-Extreme Ways to Reduce Your Screen Time

Tip 1: Save it for later

This applies to articles or YouTube videos.

Don't consume them one after another as they catch your attention.

Save YouTube videos to your "Watch Later" list.

Save articles to a reading app like Reader, which is the one I use.

Then, only read the articles in your reading app and watch the videos in your "Watch Later" list.

Sometimes, with some time in between, you realize the video or article isn't actually that interesting or useful to you at all.

Be selective about what you consume and what goes into your head.

Tip 2: Set a time for social media

Designate a time mentally or on your calendar—if you're like me and use time blocking—when you want to use social media.

Instead of feeling bad about using social media every now and then, you can be free and actually enjoy the time you spend on it.

I think there's some joy and connection to be found on social media, but just remember it should never replace the moments you spend in real life, especially with someone next to you.

Tip 3: Be aware of your screen time

I think most people are actually shocked to find out how many hours they spend on their phone.

So yes, simply being aware of your weekly average screen time is enough.

It's enough to ignite a gradual change in behavior without overly restrictive measures that can often backfire.

So yeah, go to your phone settings at the end of each week and become aware of your screen time.

Tool of the Week: Minimal Widgets

Our phones can provide useful information.

But they are often cluttered with unnecessary content.

This is why I reached out to Lokki to create minimalist widgets that provide information clearly and concisely without adding clutter to your home screen.
